Late on the afternoon of Monday, November 27th, 2017 the Roslyn Fire Companies were dispatched to an unknown type fire in the vicinity of Old Northern Boulevard and Tower Place. As fire department units began responding they were advised that additional calls were being received with some reporting a fire on the roof of a building. When fire department units arrived on scene they were met with fire on the roof of the historic Roslyn Grist Mill on Old Northern Boulevard leading to the transmission of a signal ten [working fire]. Port Washington was designated the FAST and responded with Heavy Rescue 8522 while Glenwood was notified for an additional engine to the scene. Firefighters put one line into operation to put out the fire and save the landmarked building from extensive damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation and there were no reported injuries.
