On the night of Thursday, November 19th, 2020 the North Amityville Fire Company along with mutual aid units operated on the scene of a working fire on Ronek Drive off Arthur Street. The main body of fire was in the basement of a one-story private dwelling. Two occupants [both with burns], one adult and one pediatric, were removed from the home by a first arriving chief. Of the two aided one was flown to Stony Brook while the other was transported by ground to NUMC. Firefighters went on to stretch and operate at least two hand lines resulting in a quick knock down of the fire. Among the departments called for mutual aid was Amityville, Copiague, Massapequa, and East Farmingdale. The cause of the fire is under investigation and the scene was placed under control within thirty-five minutes.
