Nassau Road [4-6-21]

Minutes after one in the morning on Tuesday, April 6th, 2021 the Roosevelt Fire Department was called to a building fire on Nassau Road off East Fulton Avenue. As fire department units were on the way they were told by Nassau County Fire Communications that Nassau County Police were on scene reporting a working fire. When firefighters arrived on scene, they were met with heavy fire at the rear of a two-story mixed occupancy, a trailer and vehicle well involved on the exposure two side, and a private dwelling on the exposure three side beginning to succumb to the large volume of fire. Firefighters went on to put multiple hand lines into operation in and around the fire building. Despite early reports of people trapped all occupants made it safely out of the building. Several fire departments were called either to the scene or to standby for Roosevelt during the operation. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Roosevelt Chief of Department Martin [7300].
