Berkeley Avenue [11-5-20]

In the early morning hours of Thursday, November 5th, 2020 the Baldwin Fire Department was called to a house fire on Berkeley Avenue off Demott Avenue. When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a fire in the basement of a two-story private dwelling. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted and mutual aid notified. Rockville Centre was designated the FAST and responded to the scene with Ladder 447. Baldwin Engine 203 and Ladder 207 were the first engine and truck companies to arrive on scene. One hand line was put into operation which resulted in the fire being quickly knocked down and contained to the basement. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Units from Freeport and South Hempstead stood by while Baldwin operated. All fire department units were under the command of Baldwin Chief of Department Streithorst [205].
