Atlantic Avenue [11-7-20]

In the early morning hours of Saturday, November 7th, 2020 the Carle Place Fire Department was called to a house fire on Atlantic Avenue off Cherry Lane. When firefighters arrived on scene, they were met with smoke showing and found fire in the basement of a one-story private dwelling. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted and mutual aid notified. Mineola was designated the FAST and responded to the scene with Heavy Rescue 1610. Also, on scene was Garden City Ladder 144 and Westbury Engine 967. Firefighters stretched two hand lines and put one hand line into operation resulting in a quick knockdown of the fire. During the operation members located and removed two felines in good condition from the residence. All other occupants made it safely out of the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Carle Place Assistant Chief Geddish.
