Washington Street [4-8-18]

Late on the night of Sunday, April 8th, 2018 firefighters operated on the scene of a working fire [signal ten] at 747 Washington Street off Daffodil Street in Franklin Square. The main body of fire was in a kitchen on the first floor of a two-story private dwelling. Elmont was designated the FAST for the operation with West Hempstead on scene as an additional truck company. Despite collier’s mansion type condition firefighters made a quick knockdown of the fire with two hand lines being stretched [one line put into operation] off first due Franklin Square Engine 711. Among the other departments mutual aided [either to the scene or to standby] were Malverne, Floral Park, Stewart Manor, and New Hyde Park. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Franklin Square and Munson Chief of Department John Salzman [7100].
