Urban Avenue [3-20-18]

The Westbury Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a structure fire in the vicinity of Main and Kinkel Streets on the night of Tuesday, March 20th, 2018. Westbury fire dispatch advised responding units that the caller reported smoke from the window of a nearby home and that there was a language barrier. As fire department units approached the reported incident location they were met with a heavy smoke condition that was traced to a large mulch fire at Vigliotti Brothers Landscaping [100 Urban Avenue]. A signal 32 for a working fire was transmitted for the fire. During the operation a total of three tower ladders went into operation [Westbury, Hicksville, and East Meadow]. Additional mutual aid was called from Jericho, Carle Place, East Williston, and Plainview. The scene was placed under control in approximately one hour and all fire department units were under the command of Westbury Chief of Department John Bartunek [9601].
