Late on the night of Tuesday, October 24th, 2017 the Uniondale Fire Department was dispatched to a reported building fire at the Jehovah’s Witnesses Hall located at 614 Uniondale Avenue off Jerusalem Avenue. Nassau County Fire Communications advised responding units that one 911 call was received reporting that the building is on fire and that the automatic fire alarm was received from the location. Uniondale Second Assistant Chief John Skelly  was the first to arrive on scene and upon making entry into the building found a small fire in an interior wall. The chief kept the fire in check with a fire extinguisher and once additional manpower arrived the wall was opened to check for extension. The fire burned up the wall just short of the ceiling. One line was stretched and put into operation of Brookside Engine Company No. 2. All fire department units were under the command of Uniondale Chief of Department Smith .
