Sunrise Lane [8-15-19]

On the night of Thursday, August 15th, 2019 the Wantagh Fire Department was called to a house fire on Sunrise Lane off Green Lane in the Levittown section of their district. As fire department units were on the way they were told that multiple calls were being received reporting the fire and that Nassau County Police were on scene advising of a working fire. Upon arrival firefighters were met with fire and smoke showing from a two-story private dwelling. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted and mutual aid notified. Among the departments called for mutual aid were Bethpage and Levittown. Firefighters put three hand lines into operation. The scene was placed under control within 45 minutes and despite early reports of people trapped all occupants made it safely out of the home. Standing by for Wantagh during the operation at Wantagh Station 2 was an engine from Bethpage and ladder from North Massapequa. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Wantagh Chief of Department Joe Gross III [6900].
