Sherman Avenue [6-28-18]


At 23:36 hours on the night of Thursday, June 28th, 2018 the Bethpage Fire Department was dispatched to a garage fire at 15 Sherman Avenue off South 1st Street. Those first to arrive on scene were met with a confirmed fire in a detached garage not far from exposures. A working fire was transmitted, and mutual aid notified. South Farmingdale was notified for the FAST and responded with Ladder 978. Farmingdale was requested for an additional engine to the scene and responded with Engine 924. Bethpage Engine 907 [acting 9044] was the first engine to arrive on scene and had two lines stretched with at least one going into operation. Firefighters were able to make a quick knockdown of the fire and keep it from extending to any exposures. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Bethpage Chief of Department Urbanick [Car 1].
