Just after noon on November 5th, 2011 the Plandome Fire Department began the wetdown ceremony for their newly acquired Pierce Saber Engine. The Engine, marked 841, replaces the previous model built by Emergency One. The new Engine 841 is built with a smaller wheelbase so that it can fit within the confines of the Plandome Fire House. Chief Goodwin and the Mayor of Plandome were on hand for the ceremony which took place in the Plandome Village Green. Apparatus from within the battalion and surrounding towns also came to the ceremony and made it possible. Among these units were: Floral Park Ladder Company 2 [Ladder 123], Williston Park Engine 861, Albertson Engine 804, Great Neck Vigilant Engine 835, Great Neck Alert 823, and Manhasset-Lakeville Engine 8711. Best of luck to the Plandome Fire Department with their new apparatus.
