Monaco Avenue [10-8-17]

At 00:34 hours the Elmont Fire Department was dispatched to an automatic alarm at 15 Monaco Avenue off Keegan Street. As units were on the way they were advised by Nassau County Fire Communications that they received a direct call from the residence reporting a fire in the living room and that several, additional phone calls were being received reporting a fire. When firefighters arrived on scene they were met with heavy fire at the rear of a one a half story private dwelling leading to the transmission of a signal ten [working fire]. The fire went on to extend from the first-floor kitchen area where it was believed to have begun and extended into the living room and the floor above. The operation reached a second alarm status which brought additional resources to the scene and new units to standby for Elmont. Among the departments mutual aided were Valley Stream, Lynbrook, Franklin Square, Floral Park, and Lakeview among others. The scene was placed under control in under an hour and the cause of the fire is under investigation. All fire department units were under the command of Elmont First Assistant Chief Luckman [7011].
