George Grant Street Renaming [9-23-18]

On the afternoon of Sunday, September 23rd, 2018 the Point Lookout-Lido Fire Department hosted a street renaming in honor of George Grant, a member of the department, who made the ultimate sacrifice on March 1st, 1980. Grant lost his life while operating at a house fire on Bellmore Avenue. At the time of his death George was a twenty-four-year-old captain with Action Engine Company No. 1. The section of road renamed in his honor was located on Lido Boulevard in front of Point Lookout-Lido Fire Headquarters. Several members of the department as well as surrounding fire departments, family, and friends attended the event. There was also a strong presence from the Point Lookout community. Aside from the roadway a tournament hose cart was also dedicated in George Grant’s honor.
