Cedar Creek Park [4-18-18]

The Wantagh Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a building fire inside Cedar Creek Park late on the night of Wednesday, April 18th, 2018. As fire department units began responding they were advised by Wantagh fire dispatch that Nassau County Police were on scene reporting a fire atop on the park’s buildings. As firefighters approached the entrance to the park they were met with a heavy smoke condition and went on to find fire in a building housing Police Athletic League offices and bathrooms. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted and mutual aid notified. Wantagh Engine 695 was the first engine company to arrive on scene and had at least two hand lines stretched and operating. The construction of the building made it difficult for firefighters to open up and locate the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Wantagh First Assistant Chief Ken Kelly [6901].
