Cambridge Avenue [2-22-19]

On the morning of Friday, February 22nd, 2019 the Bethpage Fire Department was called to a house fire on Cambridge Avenue off Powell Avenue. Responding units were advised by Bethpage Fire Communications that one 911 call was received reporting a fire in a second-floor bedroom. Those first to arrive on scene were met with smoke showing from a two-story private dwelling. A FAST was requested to the scene and called from South Farmingdale [Ladder 978 responded]. Moments later a signal ten [working fire] was transmitted. Bethpage Engine 9044 was the first engine company to arrive on scene and had two hand lines stretched with one line put into operation. Bethpage Ladder 4 was the first truck company to arrive on scene with Farmingdale Engine 924 and Hicksville Engine 933 the second and third due engines respectively. Plainview Ladder 9533 also responded to the scene as an additional truck company. Firefighters made a quick knockdown of the fire and the scene was placed under control within twenty-five minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Bethpage Chief of Department Urbanick [Car 1].
